Negotiations

Littleton Education Association representatives and district representatives for the Board of Education held their first bargaining meeting on November 19, 2009. The Collective Bargaining Agreement will be negotiated using an interest-based process. This process allows the parties to identify issues, share information and interests openly, and brainstorm and generate options. A final commitment is not made until the end of the process. We do not expect to reach resolution before May, 2010. The current Legislative session is a tough one. We are certain the Legislature will be making huge cuts to k12 funding but are uncertain at this point of the exact amount and the full impact on LPS.
On January 28th, the School Board approved those recommended budget cuts NOT subject to negotiations, which were first presented by administration at the Dec. 10th meeting. The District and the Association are in the process of negotiating compensation and insurance. Additionally this year, pursuant to our Collective Bargaining Agreement, either party may initiate renegotiation of up to two other specific topics covered by our agreement.
Insurance is scheduled to be negotiated at the February 17th, March 3rd, and March 15th sessions. Updates will be provided through the web site. Contact members of the bargaining team with ideas and/or questions.
